Lingerie that's properly made.

Bodysuits, briefs and costumes chosen for fit, fabric and finish. Lingerie that earns its place in the drawer — and stays there.

Good lingerie isn't about following trends. It's about the fundamentals: fit, fabric, finish. The pieces that earn their place are the ones that feel right against the skin, sit where they're meant to, and don't fall apart after three washes.

The UK lingerie market is heavily skewed toward two extremes — fast-fashion brands at the bottom, and the rarefied luxury houses at the top. The interesting work is happening in between, with brands like Leg Avenue, Lace by Lacy, Bluebella and Moonlight building considered pieces at reasonable prices.

This guide covers the three lingerie categories most worth understanding in 2026: bodysuits (the single most versatile piece in the drawer), briefs (every day, properly made) and costumes (for the occasions that justify them). All three follow the same principles for choosing well.

Which lingerie suits you?

Three different silhouettes for three different moments. The right piece depends on what you're actually dressing for — not what an algorithm is pushing this week.

i.

Bodysuits

The most versatile piece in any lingerie drawer. A well-cut bodysuit works under outerwear, on its own, or as the foundation of a layered look. Look for lace bodice with proper bust support, a flattering high-cut leg, and snap closures at the gusset for ease.

ii.

Briefs

The everyday foundation, properly considered. From everyday lace boy shorts to French knickers to thongs, briefs work hardest when they fit perfectly and the fabric breathes. Look for cotton-lined gussets, quality elastic that doesn't dig, and seams that lie flat.

Costumes

For the moments that earn them. Whether playful, sophisticated, or somewhere in between, lingerie costumes turn an evening into an occasion. Look for considered detailing, proper construction, and a fit that flatters rather than fights you.

How we choose.

  • i.
Fit and construction Proper sizing across the size range. Seams that lie flat. Closures that close properly. Construction that holds up after multiple washes.
  • ii.
Fabric quality Proper lace, not cheap mesh. Soft silk and satin where claimed. Stretch where the body actually moves. Cotton-lined gussets in briefs and bodysuits.
  • iii.
Considered detailing Hardware that doesn't tarnish. Closures that work cleanly. Trim that's properly attached. The difference between a £30 piece and a £130 piece is almost always in the details.
  • iv.
Range across sizes Quality lingerie should look as good at size 16 as it does at size 8. We favour brands that grade properly across the range, not those who just scale up a small-size pattern.
  • v.
Brand intent Is this lingerie designed by people who actually wear lingerie? You can tell. We favour brands led by women, designed with intent, and made to outlast the season.

Frequently asked.

What's the difference between a bodysuit and lingerie sets?

A bodysuit is a one-piece garment combining bra, briefs and back into a single fitted piece — often with snap closures at the gusset. Lingerie sets are separates (bra + briefs, sometimes plus a third piece like a suspender belt).

Bodysuits are typically worn under outerwear or as standalone pieces; sets offer more flexibility to mix and match.

How do I find my correct lingerie size?

Most lingerie uses standard UK sizing for briefs and dress-size equivalents for bodysuits and costumes (XS-XXL). Bra sizing follows the standard UK band + cup system (e.g. 34C).

When in doubt, size up — lingerie that's too tight rarely flatters. Each product page includes the specific size guide for that brand.

What occasions is lingerie appropriate for?

Lingerie is for whatever you want it to be for — under everyday outerwear, for intimate moments, for yourself.

The categories cover the spectrum: bodysuits and briefs work as everyday-luxury pieces, while costumes are designed for occasion wear and play. There are no rules.

Is the packaging discreet?

Every order ships in plain, unmarked outer packaging from a neutral sender name. Card statements appear under a neutral descriptor. No logos, no branding visible on the outside. Read more on our Discreet Packaging page.

Can lingerie be returned?

For hygiene reasons, lingerie can only be returned if unopened, unworn and with all hygiene seals intact. We honour a 30-day returns window on qualifying items.

If you're between sizes, we'd recommend ordering both and returning the one that doesn't fit (unopened).

How should I care for lace and silk lingerie?

Hand wash in cold water with a gentle detergent designed for delicates. Never tumble dry — lay flat or hang dry away from direct sunlight.

For lace, a mesh laundry bag in a cold gentle machine cycle is acceptable. Always store fastened to maintain shape.
